The Chalet

For all celebrations, special birthdays, christmas functions or your next work do - the Chalet is an ideal venue.

With seating for up to 130 guests (or up to 180 guests standing), we offer a BYO license, a wooden dance floor, space for a band or DJ and take care of set up and pack down details.

We work along side you to build a menu that will suit your event - from a formal seated dinner, to buffet, or finger food passed around throughout the night.

OUR HISTORY

The Chalet has been a permanent fixture of Centennial Drive for over 50 years. With sloping macrocarpa ceilings, floor to ceiling glass windows facing both directions to the lagoon and surrounding grounds, the Chalet has a peaceful atmosphere tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We have plenty of parking available, and are conveniently located to a range of great accommodation on Fitzherbert Ave.

Originally named Beresford Hall, it was purpose built as a function centre overlooking the Lagoon by the Palmerston North City Council in the mid-1960’s and provided the PN Canoe Club with club rooms and storage underneath.

When the founder of the Canoe Club passed away, he generously left five residential properties to the Club, which were sold, and along with the PNCC, the funds used to do major extensions to both upstairs and downstairs of the building, more than doubling the size.

Boasted Catering became part of the history in 2007 - when a love of food and an increasing demand for catering in the Manawatu collided. We have been catering in and around the Manawatu since and can’t wait to be a part of your special event!
